The film shows how household waste is recycled into asphalt, and how it is then used for the asphalting of roads in Amsterdam. We see images of the garbage being collected. After the central collection, it is processed into asphalt in the factory. We see images of the production process, with title cards giving explanations. There are shots of a number of streets before and after the asphalting, including the Oosterpark, Mauritskade, Willemsstrat, and Utrechtsedwarsstraat. This is followed by “some roads paved in 1923-'24-'25 and '26”: the Stadhouderskade, Alexanderplatz, Plantage Middenlaan, Rembrandtplein, and the Leidsche Boschje. The film shows the improvements that have been obtained as a result of asphalting and changes to the layout of the streets.
