Festive opening of the local railways in South Beveland and new ferry services to Schouwen Duiveland. Many girls and women posing in traditional costume. - symbolic gate over the railway line is opened, then a steam train, consisting of one steam locomotive / carriage, rides through the gate, public is watching, 37" - various shots of guests which are serenaded by the choir, the girls and women in traditional costume, 1'28" - public on the dike is looking after a new ferry, 1'43"+2'07" - medium shot of waving women in traditional costume, 1'50" - various shots of public, including many women in traditional costume, sitting on embankment slope, various cu's of posing women's ditto, 3'34" - various shots of a train coming into the station??, public can come along on ride. Note: SOURCE: Municipal Archive Goes. The railways concern the connections Goes - Wemeldinge, Goes - Katse Veer and a ring route along the villages in the zak van Zuid-Beveland. In 1942 the lines were dismantled.
