Women have officially been admitted to cycling by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Wielren Unie (Royal Dutch Cycling Union). The 20-year-old Ineke van Ijken from Baarn, secretary of the Nederlandse Dames Wielerclub (Dutch Women's Cycling Club), wins the first cycling road cycling race for the National Championships at the Circuit Park Zandvoort.
