Snow in the eastern part of the Netherlands causes traffic problems and leads to snowball fights among the youth. In Broek and Spannenburg skating competitions are held, with a.o. koek en zopie (rehfreshment stall). In Utrecht the Plantsoenendienst (Parks and Public Gardens Department) catches all swans and transports them by car to their winter residence in the Juliana Park.
