The Marine Corps celebrates it's 281st birthday in Rotterdam. This coincides with the return of the Corps to Rotterdam. The commander of the naval forces, Admiral of teh Fleet C.E.L. Helfrich decorates the Corps on behalf of the Queen and commemorates the marines that were killed in Rotterdam in 1940. The ceremonies end with a procession. SHOTS: - marines march in a column through Rotterdam, a.o. by the city hall at the Coolsingel; - in front of the city hall the marines stand to attention; Helfrich attaches a decoration to the banner of the Corps; other present soldiers stand to attention or salute; - Helfrich attaches a wreath to a monument near the Willems bridge; - marines march past.
