Commemoration of the February strike of 1941 in Amsterdam. SHOTS: - Pan from the tower of the Zuiderkerk (Southern church) across the roofs of the former Jewish quarter; - street shots with "scars": in the city landscape are open places where houses used to be; - shots of how the int. of the synagoge used to be: whole and intact; - shots of ext. and int. synagoge now: in ruins; - a large crowd of people gathered at the Waterloo square near the temporary monument; next to the monument is a guard of honour made up of members of the Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten (Domestic Forces); mayor A.J. d' Ailly comes forward and lays a wreath; after that there is a defile; the people, some of them in concentration camp clothing, walk by in silence; some lay flowers.
